As far back as I can remember in my life, there has been music, Church music. Traditional hymns, moving Spirituals and Gospel music, with its rich melodies, rhythmic intensity, syncopated beats, and uplifting spirit. These have formed the consistent thread that has sustained me throughout my life.
I come from a very spiritual family in rural North Carolina. Generations of preachers, teachers, and farmers who were richly blessed with the gift of music. This music reminds me of who I am and where I come from.
To the right are selections in mp3 format from my various recordings. The first three are from my debut CD entitled "Songs My Fathers Taught Me," recorded in 1998 In Boston.
The fourth song to the right is from my work with Nick Page and The Mystic Chorale, Arlington, MA, recorded live, November 6 & 7, 1999. I arranged this version of "When The Saints Go Marching In" and am featured as soloist. |
